I don't believe in destiny; I believe in Guruji. Guruji said: "God writes your destiny and sends you to earth. A Guru is one who can change your destiny if He so pleases. In front of a Guru, even God does not have much of a say." Such is Guruji, a true Guru and the Creator himself, who rewrites our destinies for the better.
I met Guruji in 2005, and was struck by His aura and persona, so royal and out of this world. He was a unique Guru; He neither preached nor sermonized and rarely spoke. But a few words from Him were blessings for a lifetime. At that time, I was studying in Class XII and confused about the choice between the science and commerce streams. I wanted to become a doctor but was unsure. I had the rare privilege of asking Guruji for guidance. When I asked Him, He said, "
Doctor banne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai, commerce kar." Since He rarely spoke, this was truly special. I excitedly said, "Thank you, Guruji."
But I still doubted whether I should take up studies in commerce. Then, an uncle, a long-time devotee, told me that if Guruji advises you to do something, you must follow it, because it is what's best for you. He reinforced this with an incident about a devotee who ignored Guruji's guidance and later faced disaster. This showed me that Guruji protects us from ill-fated destinies and blesses us so our lives change for the better. After listening to uncle, I switched to commerce. I was happy and successful throughout my student life. Since I had obeyed Guruji, three years later I got admission into a top B.Com Honors course in a great college at Delhi University without my expecting it.
When Guruji says or wills something, it does not merely happen because He predicted it—it happens because He creates it. Guruji is the highest form of divinity, the master of this universe. If you have come to Him, you don't need to go anywhere else, because He represents all divine forms.
My behaviour, my life, my friends, everything has changed for the better after meeting Guruji, as it has for my family, too.
Blessings take me to a top business school
In 2011, another significant moment with Guruji happened. I deeply desired to study at one of India's top business schools, but my marks were inadequate for even a decent school. One day in December 2011, I prayed to Guruji straight from the heart—and He blessed me. I knew he had given His blessing because I saw a clear sign: the light in the room flickered even though the switch was off.
Soon after, a devotee whom I rarely meet brought me the book
Surcharged with Divine Love. In it, I read Guruji's quote: "Flickering of light is a sign of God." That confirmed for me that the light I saw was indeed Guruji's sign.
Despite receiving his blessing in 2011, my hardships continued. I tried repeatedly, but nothing worked. Then, about a year later, the rules for management admissions changed for the first time, making it easier to get admission. That helped me, but I still needed a high score. After a lot of effort, I managed a decent one. I wondered why if Guruji had blessed me things were still not happening? Feeling dejected, I opened
Surcharged with Divine Love, which had become my Bible. It opened to Guruji's quote:
"Always have faith in your Guru. Even though at the moment nothing may make sense, remember everything a Guru says or does has a purpose. And the purpose is always the benefit of His disciple."
By the end of 2014, I had spent three and a half years sitting for entrance exams. I had neither got through nor had I marshalled any work experience. Yet Guruji continued to show His presence. I would see butterflies—which He said are signs of God—appearing in the unlikeliest of places, for e.g., outside a meat shop. These signs bolstered my faith and kept me going.
I began receiving rare and valuable work opportunities. Step-by-step Guruji prepared me for each one so that I could become the best version of myself. Two years of this ensured I had strong work experience. However, the job I was in had become uncomfortable, so I quit and attempted entrance exams again. My scores still wouldn't get high; in fact, they nudged lower. I felt hopeless and underconfident. I felt I could not do anything in my life until my sister convinced me to apply to a top business school I had never considered. It was one of the few schools that valued an applicant's profile, not just marks. Then, thanks to the changed admission rules, even my 2014 score met their 2017 cutoff.
I was called for an interview but I could not prepare well for it. Just before the interview, my
masi, maternal aunt, sent me Guruji's
swaroop. Amid hopelessness, I just looked at it. Yet it turned out that I gave exceedingly impressive answers during what was a very tough interview. In fact, when the grill got to its hardest, I remembered Guruji from my heart—and gave the right answer.
Today, I am an MBA from one of India's top business schools because of Guruji. He made it happen at the right time, five and a half years after His blessing, when I had learnt much-needed life lessons in humility, the right work attitude, and how to deal with failure. Moreover, I gained high-quality work experience. Guruji made me go through necessary turbulence so I would not face it later.
At business school, everything felt divinely arranged: loving friends and a unique work profile that gave me an edge in a batch of more than 400. I also got opportunities to develop artistic talents, like emceeing, which is now an alternative career option. I had prayed to Guruji only to send me to a top business school, but He gave me much more. Not only did I get all the things that I truly needed, but the one business school He chose for me was the perfect fit. I have zero regrets at not getting into the business school that I really wanted to go to.
I consider it to be the most important blessing of my existence to have a divine connection with Guruji. He really listens to each of my prayers and I am very thankful to Him for allowing me to connect with Him. Only He chooses who and when can we connect with Him.
Tapping into Guruji's guidance and blessings
There are many ways to connect directly with Guruji. Along with prayers before His swaroop, His
mantra jaap, the holy
shabads (the ones that were played during His time), and
satsangs are powerful ways to receive His guidance and blessings. Sometimes, He has sent me gudiance through his
sangat too, and He always makes it clear when it is His message. He can guide us however He wishes to. But all this can only happen when we work to establish a direct connection with Him. Guruji connects with anyone who puts in sincerity and effort over time to build this relationship. Because of my strong connection with Guruji today, I feel no need for any validation or discussion with others. I have a self-awareness through which I consult Guruji.
I pray with focus and sincerity. I tell Guruji my problems, what I desire, and then request His blessings and help. By putting these before Him, I leave it to Him to decide what to give me. From my experience, He is very generous. If not what you want, He gives something better. Or He eases your pain and no matter what, He fills your heart with peace.
Ask, pray, and leave it to Him. Surrender is the key to receiving His blessings.
Guruji wants us to come to Him with hope and positivity. If you lose hope, you attract negativity. Always remember: Guruji can do anything. The impossible becomes possible even if it takes time. When nothing seems to be moving, do not lose faith. If He wills something, it will happen. But you must also take the right actions He guides you towards and take them on time.
Listening to Guruji—rather than insisting on our own way—is the true path to His blessings.
Guruji's pens, bracelets, key chains—all which I got from His Mandir—are also His ways of blessing me and I always keep them close to me. Visiting Bade Mandir is vital to receiving His blessings. Guruji has blessed it with a lot of powers. Guruji heals emotional and physical pain through his
langar and
chai prasad served at His Mandir or during satsangs. Eating His langar has protected my family and me from illness. I know Guruji has planned out my entire life towards the highest benefit and
kalyan.
As he has for every devotee. All we need to do is develop a strong connection and obey Him.
