Guruji turns failure into success

Kartika Ahuja, January 2012
I am pursuing a Bachelor of Technology degree, though I have never been good at mathematics. The syllabus is tough, and I dislike maths. A maths exam that was to be held during my third semester found me extremely worried. A night before the exam, I was sure I was going to fail. I prayed to Guruji to help me somehow pass the exam.

The next day, I was startled to see a very easy question paper. I answered the questions without difficulty and believed that I would get through. I came back home to find my sister (a lecturer in another college affiliated to the same university as mine) calling me up. I happily conveyed my confidence, but my sister was doubtful. She said she had seen the question paper, and I could never pass it.

My sister came home and read through my question paper. She was surprised: The paper I received was different from the one supplied in her college! Apparently, one of the question papers had missed its mark.

We soon learnt that our college had been supplied with a question paper meant for the Bachelor of Science course. Among the eight colleges affiliated to the university only mine had been supplied with the unintended question paper. Inevitably, our answer sheets had to be checked in accordance with it.

Everyone was amazed: how this could have happened? I was sure Guruji was behind it all. With Guruji's grace, I got through the exam with good marks.

There is another instance of His grace helping me out.

In college, an external examiner evaluates us at the end of each semester. For my fifth semester, I had to sit in the school lab for a computer graphics practical. When it was my turn, two of my classmates and I went inside the lab and took our chairs without asking for the examiner's permission. The examiner was upset. He told us to get out and marked us as failed. We gave our apologies; he relented only so far as to make us wait till all the students had given their practical. I had to wait till 50 students had given their exam.

During this time, I kept chanting, "Aum Namah Shivay, Shivji Sada Sahay; Aum Namah Shivay, Guruji Sada Sahay." Finally, we went into the lab. The examiner took our viva without bias and with a cool mind. I espied my mark sheet; I had scored 48 out of 50-in the very subject he had hours ago failed us.

Once again Guruji had come to my rescue and saved me. I pray to Guruji to always be with me and my family and to bless every sangat member. Jai Guruji!
